Our  Story

Lead is an Egyptian Not-for-Profit Microfinance institution founded in 2003 under NGO law number 84/2002, it is currently regulated by the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority under microfinance law number 141/2014.

Lead was initially established with the contributions of individuals from the Egyptian private sector who are committed to playing a major role in the social and economic development of the country and with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). 

Lead is devoted to giving every client the opportunity to move forward by partnering with each client, bringing a professional approach to understanding the client's business and offering the adequate microfinance services with transparent and simple communication.

Our focus is on reaching out directly to the segments of society that are most in need of economic empowerment: poor and low-income entrepreneurs, particularly women. 

We specialize in the delivery of microfinance services to Egypt's economically active poor in 5 governorates through 18 branches and 2 satellite offices. 

Believing in being a leader in the Egyptian microfinance industry, Lead is adopting Best Practice Microfinance in all aspects of its operation including Financial Transparency.

Since start-up, Lead has been an active member of the Mix Market transparency website in which members share analytical information visible to members of the industry, donor agencies and other stakeholders. 

Lead is a member of the Women's World Banking network and also a member of Sanabel - Microfinance network of Arab Countries.
